チャルマーズ・ジョンソン教授ご逝去

昨日、アメリカの日本研究者から、国際政治学者で現代日本・中国研究の第一人者であるチャルマーズ・ジョンソン教授ご逝去の報が入ってきた。

直接ご縁はなかったが、日本研究のエッセーは、いつも注目された。

日本とアメリカとの心からの友人が一人いなくなった

チャルマーズ・ジョンソン氏（米国際政治学者）米メディアによると、２０日、カリフォルニア州サンディエゴ近郊の自宅で死去、７９歳。

アリゾナ州出身。カリフォルニア大サンタバーバラ、サンディエゴ両校教授を経て、民間シンクタンク「日本政策研究所」を設立、所長を務めた。

１９８２年に「通産省と日本の奇跡」を出版。

旧通商産業省（現経済産業省）主導による独特の閉鎖的な産業構造が日本の高度経済成長を支えたと分析し、「日本異質論者」の代表格とされた。　（ワシントン時事）（2010/11/22-10:51）
